WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) — Wausau West High School is hosting their 6th annual Bandstock on October 7th and 8th at 7:30pm, in the schools auditorium. The concert will feature the schools band, orchestra, choir and a special guest artist or band.
“It’s gonna feature the Wausau West Band with a rock band called Hip Pocket from around town, and we’re just gonna have a blast playing a bunch of tunes with them, like Jackson 5 tunes and stuff like that,” said Wausau West Senior Lucas Fishcer.
Fischer is a percussion leader in the schools band, and said he plans to study music at UW-Stevens Point next year, because of his strong love for music.
Jacey Heinrich has also grown a love for music, she said she’s been playing the trombone since 5th grade.
“Band is such a beautiful thing. Any type of music, choir, orchestra, band, you should be in it. It’s just wonderful,” explained Heinrich. “Playing with an actual rock band is super cool and just all of us working together with the orchestra and choir and our band and the other band is just super fun.”
The band’s Director Dan Emerson said he enjoys sharing his love for music with his students.
“You know music is culture, music is history, music is the only thing in the world that works every area of your brain simultaneously, which is why it does help you in so many areas of your life. And it’s just fun! Getting together with other people that’s what it’s all about, ” explained Emerson.
The proceeds from the 2016 Bandstock concert will go toward the music program at Wausau East.
